Nutrition Is A Lot Easier Than You Think

The internet nowadays is rife with diets, all promising to give you the goal you desire quickly and easily.

Weight loss diets, ebooks, videos and courses are everywhere you look, it’s a multi billion dollar industry and there are some people getting very wealthy on the back of it.

But what about the consumer? How many of them are “losing weight”, “getting the 6 pack”, “dropping a dress size” and actually seeing the results they want?

The answer is; not many.

In fact the majority of programmes bought online are seldom effective and even less likely to be adhered to over a long term.

They tend to be too complicated, restrictive or both.

Forget trying to find the “magic diet that will melt the fat away that all the celebrities are using and keeping it a secret” blah blah blah.

It doesn’t exist.

There are some simple rules you can follow, though, that will improve your health and are manageable long term.

Top line nutrition tips:

DO:

  • 1
Prioritise Protein. Make it the biggest part of each meal
  • 2
Eat as many different colour vegetables a day as you can. You don’t need to eat huge amounts, just a good variety
  • 3
Get fats from the foods that you eat and then add a little more from good sources like olive oil, flaxseed, coconut and seeds
  • 4
Use carbohydrates as and when you need them, preferably after exercise and only use good sources like sweet potatoes or root vegetables
  • 5
    Drink plenty of water
  • 6
Get 7-8 hours of sleep per night

DON'T:

  • 1
Eat foods that you cannot find in nature. If you cannot find an Oreo tree or a pasta plant then don’t eat them
  • 2
    Avoid sugar
  • 3
Avoid processed foods. Anything with more than one ingredient is processed. That includes bread, pasta, ice cream and all “diet” foods
  • 4
    Don’t drink coffee after 10.30am
  • 5
Avoid sports “foods” like protein bars, cookies, protein breads etc.
  • 6
Don’t eat fats and carbohydrates together, they will make you uncontrollably hungry
Honestly, that’s about it. Obviously, if you are suffering from any health issues, then this would need to be looked at in more depth, which is what we do, but for people just looking to be healthy, follow these simple rules and you’ll be pretty much good to go.
